New Galaxy Theatre brings out tech & foodie fans in Las Vegas!

All the cinema fans in the central-east part of Las Vegas should rejoice. A new movie theater with amazing technology, food and amenities has landed to fill an under-served area.

This new Galaxy Theater can be found nestled in the center of Boulevard Mall. For those of you surprised by this, join the club. Don’t let your surprise dissuade you though, a great cinematic experience awaits you. Yes, you’ll need to walk through the bones of a mall that has seen better days, but maybe this is the shot in the arm that revives this pantheon of capitalistic endeavors.

Once you enter the theater area though, you are transported into a different reality. A bar and mini-cafe area reside right off of the entrance to provide you with bites and libations, until its time to sit for your movie experience. Not to worry though, taking this food and drink into the auditorium is also allowed, and encouraged.

Talking of food, let’s get into what Galaxy has to offer in the way of dining. A refreshing salad is a great alternative to those watching calories or carbs. And while not as fun as buttery popcorn, it was still quite tasty.

Next to try were the Conan the Bavarian Pretzel Sticks with cheese sauce. Easily my favorite option on the menu, mostly because I love cheese and I love dipping things. It reminded me of mall pretzels that could be dunked into cheese, only better quality. The boneless wings were serviceable, but not memorable.

This pizza was not good at all. I wish there was more to it than that, but it made me sad. And the only memory that came from it, was a time in my youth when I mistakenly ate a 99 cent pizza I cooked in a microwave.

Supreme Pizza

A good burger for movie food (even better when dunked in pretzel cheese). The patty is made from a mixture of chuck, brisket and short rib. It also has a vegetarian option by replacing the patty with Impossible Meat. You can choose regular or waffle fries.

A good desert, very sweet. Though I would probably make a mess trying to eat it in the dark while watching a film.

Concession Area

And while the concessions are a good point in Galaxy Theatres column, the top option making me return to this theater is their amazing Sony Digital Projector! This premium large format projector is super crisp and sharp, giving amazing color and shadows to every scene. Partnered together in a huge auditorium with very comfy seats makes this my current favorite theater to watch films in Las Vegas.

To recap, I very much like the Sony projector and I would eat way too many pretzel sticks while drinking craft beer. The only reason I’m not there now, is that it’s not close to where I work or live.

If you do decide to check it out, here are a couple tips for you.
– Parking: Your best bet is behind the Boulevard Mall.
– Your best day: try visit might be on a Tuesday, when they have special ticket pricing. So you can spend the extra money to try the food and drinks yourself.
– Watch the main movie that week, which will most likely be in the Sony projector theater.
