Secret Agent Mike Bannon (Gerard Butler) returns to protect The President (Morgan Freeman) and freedom, as we know it. That might seem like a grandiose statement, but only to those that haven’t watched the previous films Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen. This man takes a beating and keeps coming back to fight for what’s right.

Although, this time around, the coming back part isn’t what is used to be. We find Mike fighting pains, concussions and PTSD from previous service and events that would have crippled other men. Losing a step, but not his resolve, he hides his pain and moves on. This unfortunately, is the wrong move and leaves him open to evil plots.

Those evil plans take the form of a drone strike on The President which wipes out the secret service detail and almost the Commander In Chief. With only Mike and The President surviving the attack, questions start to get asked as evidence comes together that colors Mike as the turncoat that planned the attack.

With no one on his side and many trying to kill him, Mike takes every opportunity to escape and find the truth. The President resides in a Coma and the truth of Mike’s frame-job comes together as pieces fall off the board. Can the truth set him free, and just maybe, save The President’s life as well?

This movie is not a surprise in story or action, we know what we are getting with “The Fallen” franchise. And that in itself is comforting. Fun non-stop action is sometimes needed as our shoot-em-up stars take a beating only to come back angrier and deadlier. Gerard Butler’s character has lost a step, but this film delivers a solid experience for movie goers. Add Morgan Freeman’s President and a stellar performance from Nick Nolte and Angel Has Fallen will check off all your summer weekend movie needs!
