I recently received a phone call from Mr. K. Trevor Wilson or as Letterkenny fans know him Squirrely Dan. A comic turned actor, he let me in on some of the current fandom and future surprises to come in his life and the world of the hit Hulu show Letterkenny.

DS: How are you know sir. Congratulations on the new season.

Trev: Thank you very much. Very happy to see this new season hit the air.

DS: And congratulations on being on Hulu now and the new pipeline it gives the show.

Trev: Yes, very excited to now be viewed in places like Australia.

DS: Before we get into the show and the tour, I want to ask how your stand-up comedy is currently doing?

Trev: I just came back from Calgary, doing a weekend up there. I’m actually getting ready to head back to the set though to shoot the next season of Letterkenny in a few weeks. It’s been a busy fall, seven shows in Florida, but trying to slow things down before we get things going on the show.

DS: As you know, I’m talking to you from Las Vegas, which will be a stop for LetterKenny, but it’s also a mecca for stand-up comedy. Any thoughts on possibly doing a set here?

Trev: Oh, always hoping to get booked in new markets. Las Vegas is one of the towns I’ve yet to play. So looking forward to going there with the tour, but would like to go there just on my own. I know there are some terrific clubs there. I know Brad Garrett has a club there, but pretty much anyone that wants to book me in Vegas, I’m available.

DS: Speaking of clubs and your stand-up, you’ve been on The Jimmy Kimmel show. He actually has a brand new comedy club in town too.

Trev: That’s right! Well I always love doing his show. And I know he loved the title of my first album (Sexcop Firepenis) and pretty soon I’ll have a new album to promote come Christmas time. I have a Christmas album coming out.

DS: I actually heard your comedy before I made the connection that you played Squirrely Dan on Letterkenny. And when that happened, it blew my mind. Does it throw fans off that you don’t talk or dress like Dan on a regular basis when they meet you?

Trev: Its funny. The people who saw my comedy before knew somewhat of the character and the stories. But for some reason, with our show, there’s a big disconnect that its “a show”. People really wish it was real, so when they show up to my comedy, they are like “oh, he’s really not a country guy that doesn’t understand the plural’s of the English language. He’s a trained actor that does stand-up and happens to play a character in a TV show.”

DS: So they believe it to be a documentary type format? Which, is probably a testament to the show. People want to join the cast and be part of the group, in on the joke and waiting to see what happens next.”

Trev: The number of times people tweet at us and say, “oh, my brother is a small town dirt-bag, you should put him on your show.” I want to say, that’s not how TV works.

DS: See what shows you have planned. the upcoming tour looks back to back to back. It looks like you might not even have time to unpack the luggage.

Trev: Yeah, I’m looking at the schedule and I told my Mom yesterday, “you know what know one thought about, where nine people are going to get a chance to do laundry on this road”.

DS: Sounds like you all will be raiding your merchandise shelf for clean shirts before too long! And speaking of the show, what should fans expect from a Letterkenny Live show?

Trev: Well this is the first time we’ve done it with a cast this big. The first shows we tried out, it was just four or five of us. And that was us doing some scenes live on stage, some multimedia thrown in. And then a couple of us would do some stand-up.

This tour though we are adding the skids and the hockey players, so I imagine its going to be a lot of scenes from the show. Plus some comedy from Mark Forward and K. Trevor Wilson. Truthfully though, I haven’t seen any videos or scripts for it yet though. As far as I know Jared is still whole writing the thing. So I’m sure there are going to be some surprises that I’m not even expecting.

DS: Being a fan of the show and your character, I have to ask. Is there any update on Squirrely Dan and his relationships? Maybe not full talk about errageanousses zoneses, but maybe his Mennonite love interest?

Trev: The character is always growing, but I can tell you that over the Summer we did shoot some more scenes with the Dix family, so there will be a lot more Mennonites and more Dix in Letterkenny. And we still haven’t met Squirrely Dan’s Butt’s obsessed sweety, so that’s something that may come up in the future. As much as the show changes though, many things will stay the same. Hick’s are gonna be at the farm as long as this show is going.
